Pleasant Hill, MO

Platted in 1844 by William Wright and recorded as the 'Original Town of Pleasant Hill'. Wright and the Methodist circuit rider William Ferrell ran a mercantile store, and Wright kept a three-story tavern marked by a twelve-foot beacon on a pole - an overnight stop for stagecoaches running between Lexington, Missouri and Fort Scott, Kansas. source 1 source 2
