Lakewood began as a joint venture between Farm & Home Savings Association of Nevada, Missouri, as lender and the Astro Building Corporation - Wilmer Andes and Paul Roberts - as developers. The lakes were developed in 1976 and the first 80 lots were platted the following year, starting on the west side at Lake Drive, Bramble Trail, Beechwood, Blue Jacket and Basswood. source
